In 2002, I started something no one in Japan had attempted before — a fully private, one-to-one soccer coaching practice. At the time, soccer in Japan was a team sport, learned in a team setting. The very idea of teaching it individually was unheard of.
Working one-to-one with children, day after day, I came to a single, unshakable conviction:
Nearly every child who has stopped improving shares one thing — an unaddressed cause. And almost no one — not coaches, not parents — can see it.
No doctor would prescribe sprints for a child with a fever. No doctor would prescribe stretching for a broken bone. They diagnose first. Identify the cause. Then prescribe. In medicine, this is obvious.
Yet in soccer coaching worldwide:
When a child can't score, coaches say "shoot more."
When they can't beat a defender, coaches say "practice more feints."
They treat the symptom — without ever looking at the cause. That's not how improvement works.
So I decided to build The Soccer Technique Clinic myself.
That decision was 22 years ago. The clinic is still open. The number of cases has passed 20,000. And the methodology now bears my name —
